As an earmark to the beginning of the new year, a large group of newly-elected, and re-elected, county officials were officially sworn in during a ceremony at the courthouse Friday.
After administering the oath of office, Hamilton County District Judge Rachel Daugherty offered a few words of congratulations.
“I want to congratulate you,” she began, met with a round of applause. “I always want to take a moment just to say a few words for the people of Hamilton County, to thank you. Number one, being a public servant is a huge responsibility. It’s a great honor as well, but it takes a certain sense of sacrifice to do this job. Sometimes we’re not paid the same as the private sector. Sometimes what is demanded of us is more.”
