A new year is here, but before we close the book for good on 2022 here is a look back at the events that made headlines on the local front. What follows is a week-by-week capsule summary of the top news stories from July through December 2022.

JULY
* July 6 -- Memorial Community Health had reason to celebrate Friday, inviting the community to its first gala in three years, successfully raising approximately $35,000 to help purchase a new next-generation ultrasound machine. With the annual gala canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic and forced to a stay-at-home fundraiser format last year, the Memorial Foundation event was back on track with the live and in person version this year, much to the joy of ReeAnn Regier, the foundation’s executive director.
* A bit of the old attitude has returned to the walls of the Hamilton County Youth Center. Marketing graphic designer and artist Brandon Marr has returned to his hometown to paint a mural of passed Youth Center founder Merwyn Davidson.
* Supply chain issues have plagued a variety of industries in more than one way and level of disruption. Unfortunately the agriculture industry is no exception, though it seems to be lesser -- for some.
