City OKs 1st Street paving

Aurora’s long-awaited decision to go ahead with a proposed 1st Street paving plan was met with unanimous approval from city council members during a brief Sept. 26 meeting.
“I think the council had taken the information taken from citizens on the project and it was an overwhelming decision that the citizens wanted,” said city administrator Rick Melcher.
The project includes paving 1st Street from Highway 34 north to Adams Street with a roadway measuring 37 feet in width and nine inches in depth. The extra depth was necessary, engineers recommended, due to farm traffic coming into town from the north. See print or e-edition for full report.
