Micheal Scott Fruit, 67, of Central City, formerly of Aurora, passed away on November 6, 2022 at Azria Health in Central City.  A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Giltner Community Center in Giltner, with Brandon Hunnicutt officiating.

Mike was born to Gerald and LaVerne (Lake) Fruit on March 18, 1955 in Red Cloud.  His younger years were spent in Nebraska, Kansas, and Colorado.  He attended schools in Comstock, Grand Junction, CO, and Giltner, graduating from Giltner in 1973.  His adult years he worked for Loren Bangs Custom Harvesting, at Pioneer Seeds, Northrup King, and Bonnavilla Homes in Aurora until his retirement in 2019.
Mike and Kelly Essary were married on May 19, 1991.  To this union were two children; Allen Michael and Derek Scott.  They later divorced.
Mike is survived by his sons, Allen and Derek, both of Aurora; his siblings, Roger (Linda) McCullough of Liberal, KS, Beverly Carlson of Chappell, Magi Brabander of Central City, Willa (Daryl) Hunnicutt, Craig (Joan) Fruit, and Denise Schrock, all of Giltner; his brother-in-law, Mark Evans of Nevada, IA; plus, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lynne Sphlical, Gary McCullough, Clark Fruit, and Cheri Fruit; sister-in-law, Marcia Fruit; brothers-in-law, Jon Schrock, Ron Brabander, and DeLee Carlson.
Thank you to Azria Health of Central City and Ascera Hospice for his care as he battled Parkinsons, Dementia, COPD and post-polio syndrome.  Also, a special thank you to his guardian for the past two years, Magi Brabander.
