Giltner Fire Chief Brad Consbruck, alongside firefighter Derreck Eastman, were just two of many first responders who volunteered their time Nov. 1 to help train Nebraska State Patrol recruits in crash response scenarios.
As part of this training exercise, fire and rescue personnel from Giltner, Cairo, Central City and Grand Island, as well as the CHI Health Good Samaritan AirCare team, were on hand to help out the 16 recruits.
“Basically what happened is they brought us all in to do a full response, lights and sirens, to the mock accident scene,” Consbruck said. “From my understanding the recruits did not know that we were going to be there that day, so they were assigned to a wreck and we were to respond at their request with what they needed and wanted at the time.”
