Hamilton County and all other 92 counties in Nebraska have been named in a lawsuit by Ryan Hill of Lincoln, who alleges that the 2020 general election was unconstitutional due to corruption in the voting process.
Though specific details of the case were not disclosed, county board members discussed the litigation briefly during Monday’s regular meeting, voting to defer representation to NIRMA, an organization representing all Nebraska counties.
Board Chairman Rich Nelson noted that Hill filed the case in Lancaster County, naming all 93 counties, S&S Voting (the company responsible for the electronic voting machines used during the 2020 election) and Gov. Pete Ricketts.
“I don’t want to use the word showboating, but I don’t think there is a whole lot of merit to this,” said Hamilton County Attorney Doug Dexter. “But the timing is interesting.”
