The pre-Independence Day celebration at Memorial Hall and neighboring ball field in Phillips comes once again Sunday, with fireworks set to light the night sky at 10 p.m.
Starting at 5 p.m. the celebration kicks off with a flurry of old and new activities. Organizers have planned  the return of the “Bring and Brag” car show in its second year.
From 5 to 9 p.m. there will be children’s activities such as a bouncy house obstacle course, the dunk tank, a new cupcake walk, a host of games for those under 7 and a water balloon catch hosted by Boy Scouts of America Troop 28 B and G.
There will also be an indoor ballgame where all will be welcome as well as a cornhole competition in the same time frame.
Guests are invited to also visit the beer garden, open at 5 p.m., which will last all the way to midnight
The Phillips Community Foundation will provide a meal from 6-8 p.m. There also be a street dance beginning at  8 p.m.
At 10 p.m., the fireworks show will begin as the main event, hosted by the Phillips Volunteer Fire Department. Licensed in pyrotechnics, Fire Chief Jason Fry will set off the display.
“We kind of put on an awesome show and hope they will come back,” Fry said.
