HPC Storm hold off fourth quarter Hampton rally
High Plains uses 13-4 run in 4th to defeat Hawks, 52-43
Three scoring rallies in the second half told the story in an area matchup last week.
High Plains carried a 28-17 second half edge over Hampton to pick up a 52-43 win in Polk Thursday night.
High Plains coach JT Hamm noted after the win that his team has come a long way in handling and protecting the basketball.
“We are getting stronger with our ball handling and controlling the basketball,” Hamm said. “Our turnover number is going down and understanding situations.”
After yet another close loss for Hampton, coach Kyle Ediger pointed out that the Hawks focus on different situations every day in practice and one of these times, the result will flip.
“It was a fast, physical game,” Ediger said. “We’re always learning from these games. We work on situations every single day. It’s a learning process.”
