Aurora’s girls wrestling team finished off the 2021 calendar year in style.
The Lady Huskies picked up its second dual win in as many weeks, defeating Columbus Lakeview 36-24 Thursday.
Aurora and Lakeview had met earlier in the season as the Lady Huskies competed in Lakeview’s Invitational as the first tournament of the season.
That led to several rematches, something Aurora coach Sheri Thompson noted led to closing gaps and improvement.
“I felt like we competed better,” Thompson said. “Natalie Bisbee made a bunch of improvements against Lemburg. She’s a tough wrestler and comes from a tough wrestling family.”
Two of Aurora’s best wrestlers, Kehlanee Bengtson and Tiffany Senff, continued red-hot starts to the season by finishing 2021 with victories.
Bengtson scored an early takedown before finishing her match in the first period with a pinfall win at the 1:28 mark.
