High Plains competed last week with multiple schools much larger in size and had some success.
The Storm finished out the first part of the season before Christmas break at the Platteview Invite Friday, including schools from multiple classes all in one event.
The Storm ended the day with an 11th place team effort, including multiple medal finishes.
Hudson Urkoski and Javier Marino carried HPC’s flag, each earning a runner-up finish at 106 and 132.
The loss by Urkoski in the finals to Drew Weddle of Nebraska City was his first of the season, now 12-1 on the year.
As for Marino, the Storm senior gave Raymond Central’s Logan Bryce a battle in the finals, but came up short in a 10-5 decision.
Wyatt Urkoski added a third place effort at 145 for the Storm, battling back after a loss in the semifinals.
