The final score of Monday’s Class B state championship game wasn’t what the Huskies were hoping for, but a closer look at the stat sheet reflects a powerful Aurora running game anchored up front with the big guys on the line.
Though falling short on the scoreboard, the Huskies out-gained the Badgers on the ground, 313 yards compared to 283, continuing a season-long trend. The Big Red finished the year with 3,358 yards on the ground, averaging 258 per game.
Senior Carlos Collazo was a huge benefactor of consistent O-line blocking, running tough for 272 yards Monday night, boosting his total for the season to 2,025 yards, just 51 yards short of a school record set by Aaron Collingham in 1995.
