A look at practice, competition for girl’s wrestling
Keasling detailed ‘what ifs’ at last month’s meeting
As the October 4R board meeting approaches, the decision on whether or not to incorporate girl’s wrestling as a sanctioned team sport at Aurora High School is still on the table.
Though wrestling coach Derek Keasling addressed the board on the presence of interest for girl’s wrestling already in Nebraska and Aurora, more specifically, he also addressed what the sport would look like on the mats at Aurora High School.
“There are kind of two differences here,” Keasling said at the Sept. 13 4R meeting. “Since girls wrestling is sanctioned and we have registered and approved girls wrestling, then that (would) mean in Aurora Public Schools that girls will only be able to compete against other girls in competition.”
