Huskies making progress at season’s mid-point
Aurora boys 4th at Central City Invite
Aurora took a step forward with a relatively young cross country team Thursday at the Central City Invite, posting some personal best individual races en route to a fourth place finish.
Though Lexington ran away from the field by claiming eight of the top 15 medals, the Huskies finished a respectable fourth in what coach Tony Sigler said was a quality meet near the season’s mid-way point.
Sophomore Lucas Gautier set the pace for Aurora with a top 10 finish, clocked in 17:32.
“Lucas has been running really well,” Sigler noted. “He has nice practices, but you know sometimes even in practice I have to step back and remind myself that he’s only a sophomore and he’s still learning. He is so talented and polished, so it’s hard to believe he’s so young, because he is running really well.
