Lightning delay not enough to slow down Heartland

Coming into the season, Giltner wanted to change its identity to more of a smash-mouth, hard-hitting football team.
The Hornets had opportunities Friday night, but too many mistakes and mental errors set Giltner behind the 8-ball in a 52-14 loss to Heartland on its home field.
Giltner coach Chip Bartos noted there’s still growth to be done on the physicality side, but the mistakes have to be cut out, too.
“We’re still not as physical as I want us to be or that we can be,” he started. “It starts and ends with our front line and that’s my challenge to those guys.”
On its opening possession, Giltner was just turning the key on a drive when a bobbled snap gave the ball over to the Huskies.
Heartland would score touchdowns on its first two offensive plays, taking a 16-0 advantage midway through the opening quarter.
