Community members gathered for the official unveiling of Aurora’s newest electric vehicle (EV) charging station during A’ROR’N Days.
Located north of the Youth Center at 1118 N St., this station shows the cumulative efforts of both businesses, the city and Aurora residents.
“This was a multiple-year project,” Mayor Marlin Seeman began. “For those of you that remember, this was just a grassy little spot and we went in and renovated it and created a spot designated for this purpose.”
That is where Nebraska Public Power District  stepped in as a funding partner and helped to create the necessary infrastructure to support the charging station.
In addition, city administrator Rich Melcher voiced that the Electric Innovation Committee worked with NPPD to help get the project underway along with support from the Aurora City Council.
