Heroes, Huskies meet again for military life discussion
Annual trip, tours planned for Friday of this week in Omaha
In their last installment of a three-part panel discussion, this year’s fleet of local veterans participating in the Heroes and Huskies project reflected on a variety of topics related to their time in the service.
Their first question from “panel moderator” Brenda Klawonn focused on friendships and memories.
“What are some fun things you and your friends did together while you were in the service, or deployed or out and about?” she questioned.
There was a moment of silence before the men shared a laugh together before saying anything.
Army veteran Jeff Wilson was first, explaining that once they were “released” they were off-duty.
“You can go out to the bars,” he said. “Go and do what you want to do, you know, until the next morning. When you show up in the morning to PT, just make sure you’re sober and you’re not puking during PT.”
