For a second consecutive week, rain played a factor in the high school football played Friday night.
While there were no area postponements this week, it was a bit damp in and around kickoff as Hamilton County teams split Friday night.
The Huskies kept its perfect record intact for another week and will keep the Hammer at home, defeating Grand Island Northwest 35-27 at home.
Northwest scored first and led at the half 13-7. The Huskies responded with 28 second half points, including first-of-the-season touchdowns from Griffin Wieseler and Cooper Hudson as part of the effort. Aurora will take its 5-0 record on the road to Hastings next week.
High Plains picked up a big Homecoming win Friday, downing Grand Island Lutheran 44-8. Aaron Brown, who was also crowned Homecoming king, scored three times in the game. HPC moves to 3-1 on the season and will play Silver Lake next week.
Giltner kicked off at home in the afternoon in an effort to beat the rain, but Red Cloud left with a 42-12 win. Giltner's efforts was highlighted by a rare 30-yard field goal from Braxton Cady, which converts to four points in 6-man. Giltner hits the road next week to play GI Lutheran Thursday.
As for the H&H Bearcats, it was a road game at Fillmore Central. It was a tied game at halftime, but Fillmore Central found the end zone twice in the second half to down the Bearcats, 21-7. H&H will be at home next Friday against Malcolm.
