Sandee Carter

Sandee Carter, age 86, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at Memorial Community Care. 
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12th at the United Methodist Church, 1104 A Street, Aurora. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate. Private family inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. on Friday at the United Methodist Church. Memorials may be to the United Methodist Church, Aurora Memorial Hospital or Aurora School Foundation. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Sandra Sue Carter, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Powers) Mason, was born in Aurora on Sept. 28, 1939, and passed away at Aurora on Sept. 6, 2026, at the age of 86.
Sandee was baptized on April 13, 1941, into the Methodist Church. She graduated from Aurora High School in 1957. Sandee received her BSN from University of Nebraska nursing program in Omaha on Oct. 3, 1961. She lived in Omaha, Des Moines, Iowa and San Antonio, Texas before returning to Aurora in 1970. She worked at the Aurora Memorial Hospital until 2005, retiring after 35 years 
Sandee met married Rolland Carter and they were married on March 15, 1972. Joining her daughter, Jennifer, from a previous marriage with his sons Lee and Mitch, from his previous marriage. They welcomed their son John in 1973. 
Sandee enjoyed her Investment Club, Club of Retired Nurses known as the Golden Oldies, and volunteering at the Thrift Store. Sandee was a member of the United Methodist Church, where she helped at many events and sang in the choir. Rollie and Sandra enjoyed travelling to Arizona for 2 months out of the year. 
Sandee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rollie Carter and 5 sisters, Phyllis (Ed) Cornelius, Betty (Al) Robinson, Marjorie (Bill) Kleitsch, Shirley (Dick) Burg, Alice (Pat) Madden and brother, Jim (Kay) Mason
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennifer Crunk of Lincoln; sons, John (Maren) Carter of Omaha, Lee Carter of Aurora and Mitch (Tanya) Carter of Castle Pines, Colo.; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
