Dear Editor:
June 23, 2026 was a very good day! The Hamilton County Food Pantry Board is most grateful for the charitable spirit of our county’s citizens. The 10/11 Can Care A Van was in Aurora to benefit and, as in the past, support of our mission was evident all day.
The food donations for the day surpassed 4,800 pounds and the increased monetary donations this year totaled a most impressive $9,800+ (representing 19,600 pounds/$1=2 pounds). These food and cash donations come from every community in our county, individuals, churches, businesses, fire and rescue groups, and the hospital. Our community donated a grand total of 24,500+ pounds.
Board members and others worked throughout the day, along with some youth who worked hard in receiving, carrying, and sorting food donations. We appreciate all the support from our county and look forward to continuing to serve residents in Hamilton County with emergency food needs.
Note that this open letter was written by Barb Johnson in 2006 and submitted to the News-Register. It has been tweaked to fit this year’s contributions.
