Muralist returns to Aurora to paint Merwyn Davidson
A bit of the old attitude has returned to the walls of the Hamilton County Youth Center. Marketing graphic designer and artist Brandon Marr has returned to his hometown to paint a mural of passed Youth Center founder Merwyn Davidson.
Marr attended the Youth Center from middle school to high school graduation, designing a few murals in his teenage years, such as the outside mural that decorates the wall facing the courtyard of the center.

Local veterans honored with Quilts of Valor
Another round of deserving veterans had the honor of receiving a Quilt of Valor on behalf of the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild over A’ROR’N Days weekend.
The morning ceremony was packed amongst the Quilt Show, complete with the honored veterans’ family and friends.
Jeanette Friesen, representative for the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild, was on hand to help recognize the veterans and tell those in attendance more about them.
“I would now like to tell the stories of  four veterans we are honoring today,” she began. “What I find so interesting is the wide variety of ways men and women have, and are, serving in the military. It takes so many different tasks and people working together for the common goal of protecting our country and the freedoms we have today.”

MCHI gala returns, 3 years later
Memorial Community Health had reason to celebrate Friday, inviting the community to its first gala in three years, successfully raising approximately $35,000 to help purchase a new next-generation ultrasound machine.
With the annual gala cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic and forced to a stay-at-home fundraiser format last year, the Memorial Foundation event was back on track with the live and in person version this year, much to the joy of ReeAnn Regier, the foundation’s executive director.
“We are so excited to be back, celebrating in person for 2022,” Regier said. “Our mission, ‘Improving lives through community health services … because every moment matters’ is a mission we strive to uphold. We hope joining us tonight will be one of your moments that matter.”

Pinnacle Bank Seniors split four games ahead of holiday
Scoring runs in big chunks was something the Aurora Post 42 Pinnacle Bank Seniors team had no problems with.
The only problem was those innings weren’t frequent enough. Aurora won two of its four games last week, dropping a 12-4 game to Wood River June 27 before defeating Kearney 6-3 June 28 while also splitting a double-header with Shelton/Gibbon Thursday posting an 11-4 win and 9-1 loss.

Dudley launches life coaching venture
Christian life coach Julie Dudley wants to talk to people. Specifically as part of her new business Royal Christian Coaching, which, for a price, she will try to get people to where they want to be in life through exercises and Christian teachings.
Dudley recalled that she had success after a few months with a life coach and now wants to use her experience and the Bible to improve people’s lives.
