Hamilton Telecommunications announces purchase of NCTC
Hamilton Telecommunications announced Friday that it has finalized a purchase agreement with Nebraska Central Telephone Company and Nebraska Central Telecom, Inc. (collectively NCTC), a provider of broadband, voice and television services based in Gibbon, in a deal which is expected to close before the end of the year.
The purchase will expand the Hamilton suite of technology service offerings to current NCTC customers and advance both companies’ ongoing fiber-to-the-home broadband projects.

Golf club built on legacy of community involvement
The end of an era is upon the Aurora community once again as it prepares to bid farewell to 100 years of history behind the Aurora Country Club.
Though now solely known as Poco Creek Golf Course, the original Aurora Country Club garnered its foothold in the area in 1921.
“For some time there has been growing a feeling among many of the men of the community that Aurora had reached the stage in her development when there was needed for recreational purposes what is known as a Country Club,” reads the Oct. 12, 1921 edition of the Aurora Republican. “And quietly steps have been taken to bring about this result.”

Homecoming advice: ‘Be a sponge’
The downtown square was filled with red and white colors combined with a powerful feeling of Husky spirit Friday afternoon as the community celebrated Homecoming 2021.
The parade down M Street and pep rally in the shadows of the courthouse have long been a tradition for Husky Nation, inviting the community to join students and alumni in a high-energy build-up to Friday night’s Homecoming finale. The weather was picture perfect, echoing a theme AHS Principal Doug Kittle says often : “It’s a great day to be a Husky.”
Kittle looked close to home, quite literally, in finding this year’s guest speaker. Giving the keynote address was 2015 Aurora graduate Jake Kittle, the principal’s son. The younger Kittle said he was honored to be asked to share a message with his home town and alma mater, reflecting on lessons learned here which had a great impact later in his life.

Huskies quiet Dukes on home floor
Aurora came back to the bench after losing the third set to York and falling behind in the match, 2-1.
Then, it happened.
Junior Lexi Jones got this look in her eye and confronted every one of her teammates on the bench with a vote of confidence and determination.
Then it was on.
Aurora rallied to win the fourth and would not be denied in the fifth, defeatimg the Dukes in five, 25-17, 17-25, 27-29, 25-20 and 15-6 Thursday.

Storm rumble to first win of season
High Plains left no doubt in its first win of the season Friday night.
During a rare afternoon kick, the Storm ran through and around Omaha Christian Academy to a 57-14 victory in Clarks.
The team was all smiles after the game and coach Greg Wood was happy to see his team finish Friday night after letting one slip away the week prior.
“The kids have been excited all week,” Wood said. “They knew how close they were last week and wanted to finish it this week and get over that hump.”
