Throwback weekend
* First-ever Aurora alumni baseball game draws a crowd
An idea sparked between two friends in a duck blind turned into a blast from the past Saturday afternoon.
A group of 11 former Aurora baseball players returned to Mitchell field to play the current version of the Aurora Pinnacle Bank Post 42 Seniors team for a first-ever alumni game.
The “old-timers” passed on a couple lessons to the current team as the alumni won the game, 17-8 in eight innings.

Cause for celebration
Another A’ROR’N Days weekend has come and gone and with it rain, sunshine and plenty of smiles.
After a year hiatus due to the pandemic it was more evident than ever that community members across Hamilton County -- those in Aurora especially -- were itching for a chance to get together again and celebrate.
“I think it went pretty darn well and it helps when you’ve got good weather,” said A’ROR’N Days committee chairman Roger Scott. “We had good participation. We have big crowds every night. I think people were just ready to come out and have a good time and stop being shut in like they had been for the last year.”

First-ever Pride March draws colorful crowd of supporters
A crowd estimated at more than 125 people paraded down Highway 14 in Aurora’s first-ever Pride March Sunday afternoon, wearing bright, rainbow colors in a unified show of support for the LGBTQ+ community.
“I was very nervous, and very excited to see how many people would be here,” admitted Evan Rose, one of the event’s organizers. “I thought maybe 30 people were going to come out, but there are definitely more here than said they were coming. It’s incredible seeing all the support we’ve had so far. I think it’s a pretty good turnout for the first Pride here.”

Aurora’s Got Talent showcases performers’ skills to wow crowd
Aurora’s Got Talent put local talent center stage Thursday night as seven acts entertained a large crowd. Both young and old got a chance to sit back and listen to performers sing and play instruments.
Event coordinator Megan Vetter voiced that the event was a huge success.
In total the inaugural event had eight performers who applied and seven who were able to perform the night of. She noted that with acts their goal was to put a show together that would be fun and something the community would enjoy.

Aurora Edge 12U win districts
The Aurora Edge 12 and under team out of Marquette put together an impressive run earlier this month, winning its district tournament and qualifying for state, which is set for the holiday weekend. The Aurora Edge 12 and under team went 5-0 at the district tournament in Hastings. Aurora Edge 12U has played upwards of 40 games so far this summer, playing its home games in Marquette and competing a few times in Aurora.
