Marci’s Farmhouse Kitchen: Southern cooking at home in Nebraska
The love of food runs deep through Marci Epp’s life. From finding recipes, creating the dish and sharing it with her friends and family, meals have grown into more than just a necessary part of her day.
This led to the creation of her YouTube channel, Marci’s Farmhouse Kitchen, where she has begun to share her favorite recipes with anyone looking to try out a new meal idea.
Family moving on from fire
Well-known by now, D.J. and Kelsey Adams, along with their four children, lost their home and almost everything inside after an early February blaze ravaged the structure.
Taking a positive approach, the couple sat down Thursday to reflect on the events that day and express appreciation towards the community that has cared for them since.
“I got the kids ready for bed, sent them off to bed and they came downstairs and told me that the power in the bathroom and one of the bedrooms wasn’t working,” D.J. began, starting his recount with the events of the night before.
Father-son quality time never frozen
No matter the time of year or weather outside, Tony and Colton Sigler are chasing the next catch.
“The tug is a drug” is almost a father-son motto for the Sigler duo, who spend much of their free time on the water no matter the season.
The Sigler family is on the backside of another ice fishing season that featured plenty of big fish and fun for both.
“I always say that ice fishing is like the great equalizer because everybody can get on the water and be where they want to be,” Sigler said. “It’s fun because it evens the playing field. You don’t need a boat, you don’t need certain things you just get to a certain spot and have fun.”

* Hampton board eyes JV program, player development as reason to continue talks
Hampton School Board members agreed Monday to continue conversations with neighboring High Plains Community Schools about the possibility of forming a sports cooperative.
The two boards have discussed the possibility of a sports coop in recent years, but stopped short of taking any action. Board President Grant Dose reported Monday that he and fellow board members Tamara Wiens and Derek Klute, along with Supt. Holly Herzberg and Principal Brad Feik, renewed those conversations last week with several High Plains representatives.
VanWormer family to host benefit for Shawn after accident
On Nov. 4, Shawn VanWormer’s life changed as he was life-flighted to Lincoln following a car accident.
When asked about the day of the accident, his father Butch recalled that he had come home from work when he received a call from an unknown number.
“It was one of the deputy sheriff’s Troy Neujahr and he said, ‘Shawn has been in a bad wreck. His dog is out here can you come and get him,’” he voiced. “I go out there and the red heeler, blue heeler named Sam is there, but he had both of his dogs with him.”
