Auroran returns to roots after life of adventure, service abroad
A lot has happened in Allie Gomez’s life since she graduated from Aurora High School in 2007. 
This includes, but is not limited too, international travel, living and teaching abroad, mission work, getting married, having kids, moving back and forth a few times and eventually returning to the place it all began -- Aurora. 

AHS celebrates winter graduation
Family and facility gathered in the Aurora theatre Dec. 22 to celebrate six students during the winter graduation ceremony. 
Walking across the stage were Ford Ekhoff, Haley Goodrich, Anthony Jividen, Harley Jones, Shaylyn Olson and Kraig Rosas. 

COVID impact tops 2020 poll
The global pandemic hit hard in Hamilton County, etching a memorable place in local history as the top story of the year in 2020.
In fact, the mass cancellation of events, closure of local churches and fiery public policy debates regarding mask wearing ranked among the list of top 10 stories of the year as well in the News-Register’s annual poll, leaving no doubt that the coronavirus pandemic will leave a scar that lasts for decades.
Coming in at No. 1, with nearly twice as many votes as any other story candidate in this year’s poll, was the overall impact COVID-19 had on citizens of all ages here in Hamilton County. 

Lady Huskies win first game in holiday tourney
It wasn’t easy, but Aurora’s girls basketball team found the win column before 2020 ended. 
The Lady Huskies needed overtime, but ended up defeating Class B No. 7 Omaha Gross 47-45 Monday afternoon in the first game of the Omaha Gross holiday tournament. 
Omaha Gross had a 26-25 lead entering the fourth quarter before the two teams swapped the lead a couple times early in the final quarter of regulation. 

McHargue named Nebraska Farm Bureau president
Newly elected and ready to serve the producers of Nebraska, Mark McHargue of Marquette has stepped into his role as president of the state’s largest farm and ranch organization -- the Nebraska Farm Bureau.
A fourth generation farmer in Merrick County, McHargue started chasing his passion for agriculture long before taking over the family operation.
