Village of Phillips maintenance dept. reports on new surveillance cameras
City officials say cameras in park will prevent vandalism
Head of maintenance Scott Hooley gave a report on various village projects in Phillips June 7, including the installation of four surveillance cameras in George Jensen Memorial Phillips Village Park.
“The cameras are out, the boxes are out and the wires are run,” Hooley said. “So, now they (Platte Valley Communications workers) have to come back and put their side of the stuff in the boxes, then put up the antenna, the transmitter and then get it all set to the receiver inside Cathie’s (Walker) office.”
The cameras from Hikvision are able to see in the dark, according to village board member Jim Crawford. They were installed by Platte Valley Communications and were chosen from two bids by the Phillips Village Board.
“They were prompt on getting a call back,” Crawford said about why the village board decided on the company. “They were professional -- local. So, that was our decision, pricing was close. It just comes out with professionalism in the presentation.”
