The most recent COVID-19 update from Kirt Smith came in the form of a brief discussion with Hamilton County Commissioners during Monday’s meeting.
He started his update reporting that there had been 26 new cases in the last seven-day period (which ended Thursday), resulting in a 35 percent positivity rate.
“So that’s a little improvement,” he said. “Hopefully that keeps going (down).”
Hospitals are “staying really busy,” he added.
“The numbers are still up there,” Smith voiced. “As of Friday there were 45 (COVID patients) in the Central District area hospitals with one ICU bed open. Those numbers change hourly, so it’s hard to stay up to date completely.”
The state’s numbers last week came in at about 584 COVID patients in state hospitals.
