Six candidates file for local offices

 Incumbents face Feb. 15 deadline in partisan elections

Half a dozen candidates have filed to run for various local elected offices so far in the 2024 election cycle in Hamilton County. Two seats on the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners are up reelection in 2024, as well as seats in three wards for the Aurora City Council. In addition there will be elections for the Aurora Airport Authority, village boards in Giltner, Hampton, Hordville, Marquette, Phillips and Stockham and seats on area school boards. 
Since candidate filing with the Hamilton County Clerk’s office began on Jan. 5, incumbant County Commissioner Nancy Salmon (Dist. 4) has filed to run for another four-year term. 
In addition, William Gfeller has filed for a four-year term on the Marquette Village Board and Megan Faller filed for a four-year seat on the Hampton School Board. 
Aurora 4R School Board President Daniel Pachta has filed for another four-year term and Board Secretary Brock Wyatt has also filed to run again for his four-year seat.
In the Giltner School District, newcomer Amanda Eastman has filed for an open four-year seat on the board. 
The deadline for incumbant filing in partisan elections is Feb. 15 and non-incumbants have until until March 1. In non-partisan elections, such as village boards, incumbents have until July 15 to file and non-incumbents have until Aug. 1.
