School bells to ring next week
Street project, new sports coop, new staff bring changes to area schools
Even as summer seems to be still going strong, the sounds of school bells will soon be in the air and back-to-school preparations have started in earnest across the county. The first day of the 2025-26 school year is only about a week away for students at Aurora, Giltner, Hampton and High Plains public schools, and teacher in-service days begin this week at some schools around our area.
All four schools have made changes to their student handbooks to come in line with a new state law banning cell phones and other electronic devices during school hours, and due to differences in the individual schools’ existing phone policies, the changes have been more dramatic in some schools than in others.
The following is a compilation of staff reports on changes and updates that will take effect with the new school year from four area schools, as well as other important important information for parents and students as the school year begins.
