County to wait one more week to decide on Road W

Body

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners addressed a previously discussed resolution to abandon a portion of Road W during its Monday meeting.
This topic garnered a good amount of public input in a board meeting in September.
“We’ve had the public hearing on (this) and to the best of my knowledge we haven’t had any more feedback,” Chairman Rich Nelson said. “They were going to talk to land owners about this.”
Commissioner Roger Nunnenkamp added that the duo present to voice opposition on the matter in September was going to collect signatures in support of not abandoning the road, but nothing had been turned in yet. There was no official deadline given by commissioners for this action.
Nelson asked if there was a motion to approve the presented resolution.
“Wouldn’t it make sense to at least touch base with them before we approve this?” Commissioner John Thomas questioned.
“I feel like we’ve given them adequate time,” Commissioner Becky Richter voiced.
While he agreed, Thomas stated, it would be polite.
Additional discussion followed on what would be the best course of action, before Thomas volunteered to reach out to the pair himself.
