Aurora educator/coach Kyle Peterson and local businessman Wade Regier brought an informative presentation to the 4R School Board during July’s meeting.
This presentation detailed a proposed project, the Aurora Community Fieldhouse, in all its facets. Of note, the proposed $4.5 million construction project is still in its earliest stages.
Regier began the presentation, noting the idea for a multi-purpose athletic and physical activity fieldhouse started over a breakfast conversation between he and Peterson.
“It’s been something I’ve been thinking about for quite a while,” Regier said.
Peterson then dove into a brief story, reporting that he garnered his inspiration for the project after a personal experience with the fieldhouse in Grand Island, where he paid to have his son practice with his soccer club. While there he noticed the amount of traffic the building was getting, much of it local faces.
“And I’m just thinking out loud that there’s got to be something in our community that we can do to provide for our kids -- so that that money, first of all, isn’t leaving,” Peterson voiced. “Secondly, we’re missing an opportunity that we can provide for them.”
