Council approves Chamber funding

Joseph Ernst was sworn in as the newest Aurora police officer during a brief Aurora City Council meeting on Aug. 22.
Ernst, who was joined in attendance by his wife, Cassidy, repeated the oath as directed by City Attorney Ross Luzum, officially becoming the 10th member of the department.
Council members also heard a report from Justise Rhoden, executive director of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, who summarized the organization’s events and activities over the past year. Her presentation was part of a request for city funding, which council members approved at $7,500, the same amount awarded last year.
In other business, the council:
* approved plans and specifications for the newly approved and annexed Northridge Second Subdivision;
* approved a request to fund approximately $15,480 for The Grape Frog in Aurora as part of the downtown revitalization project, though the final amount was reduced slightly since windows on the east side of the building did not quality for the forgivable loan project;
* authorized the mayor to enter into a subdivision agreement with Kiner Enterprises for a proposed Matson West Subdivision;
* authorized the mayor to enter into an agreement with Aurora Local 4956, involving wages for the city’s EMS services.
