New Hamilton County District Judge Lynelle Homolka was officially sworn into office Friday in the district courtroom at the Hamilton County Courthouse.
Homolka, who had been serving as the Merrick County Attorney before her appointment, was joined by family, friends and officials from both Merrick and Hamilton counties.
“I am deeply honored by this appointment and truly humbled to be joining this elite group of attorneys who serve or have served as judges in our great state of Nebraska,” she exclaimed during her ceremony. “Judge Senff, you have left some mighty big shoes to fill. Your kindness to me as I stepped into the role of MCA was comforting and gave me the confidence that I needed to meet the challenges that came my way. Your poise and compassion are unmatched and I can only hope to be half the judge that you were. Thank you for your service to our district.”
