FAA will handle investigation
At 9:12 p.m. on Thursday, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a plane crash near 5th and X roads in Hamilton County.
Deputies from Hamilton and York counties responded to the crash site along with Henderson Fire Department and Aurora Ambulance.
The pilot, 61-year-old Rick Boardman of Henderson, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office expresses our condolences to Mr. Boardman’s family,” Sheriff Jeromy McCoy stated in a press release sent out Friday morning.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash will be handled by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
No other details are available as of Friday afternoon.
