It’s time for a celebration in Hampton, and if you ask local natives most would agree the timing for Booster Days 2022 couldn’t be better.
Indeed there have been some challenging times in Hampton the last few months, a close-knit community known for its small-town pride.
“The community has been through a rough spot and it’s been fun to be a part of the community for that reason because everybody’s kind of come together,” said Corbin Fagan, chairman of this year’s Booster Days planning committee.
Most recently, Hampton lost a community icon with the passing of Roger Bamesberger, who for many years helped coordinate the annual summer celebration.
“Roger’s passing is hard, even for me, especially for Booster Days,” Fagan admitted. “He’s the guy that kind of ran that or spearheaded that for so many years and I’ve had a lot of good conversations with him when I started doing this, which were all about doing it for the community. I’m just disappointed that we didn’t get the carnival back before he was gone.”
