Accident under investigation by sheriff’s office

A Hampton man was hospitalized with multiple injuries last Tuesday afternoon after the riding mower he was operating next to Highway 34 in Hampton was struck by another vehicle.
According to Hamilton County Chief Deputy Aaron Smith, village maintenance worker Patrick Reisdorff was mowing in the ditch on the south side of the highway across from Joseph Electric at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday when the collision occurred.
Noting that the accident is still under investigation by the sheriff’s office, Smith declined to comment on the circumstances of the collision other than to say Reisdorff’s mower was struck by an eastbound pickup truck that was passing through the village, noting that the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. He said the office’s accident reconstructionist will help in the investigation.
The mower, which showed signs of significant damage, including a rear wheel being knocked off, came to rest on its top in the south side ditch next to a culvert.
According to reports, Reisdorff was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Lincoln where he underwent surgery for his injuries.
Hampton Village Board Chairman James Parsley declined to comment on the incident, saying, “Our primary concern is the health and well being of Patrick, so at this time, out of respect for the privacy of his family, we won’t be releasing any information.”
