Giltner school set to add agriculture program
Mumm’s contract extended one year through 2025
Giltner’s search for a full-time agriculture and science teacher is officially underway with full support from its school board.
Monday’s regular meeting featured discussion about advertising for a new full-time ag teacher, something that’s been discussed for several months.
Supt. Nick Mumm reported that he’s excited about the process to expand Giltner’s ag and vocational program. He noted that parents, community members and students were all surveyed recently about adding an ag program with overwhelmingly positive results. Ninety percent of parents and community members were in support while 97 percent of students also were in favor.
“We are looking forward to getting something going,” Mumm said. “We’ll make it as unique and find the most talented person we can.”
When Mumm arrived two years ago, he was surprised at Giltner’s lack of an ag program and is happy to see that changing.
