Firefighters from the Aurora Fire Department were joined by three first responders from the Hampton Fire Department for a Monday evening training session March 14 at Aurora’s training facility. Though both fire departments train regularly, this joint session offered a unique opportunity for all involved.
The class covered basic firefighting techniques for upcoming and veteran volunteers while forging the bonds between members of two Hamilton County fire departments.
“You can train with the guys, to know them a little bit better, and when you get called out on call you know (how to work together),” said Aurora Fire Chief Tom Cox. “Everybody is trained to the same level as well.”
The two departments have had close ties since the long-standing mutual aid agreement between them began. Though Hampton Fire Department does most of its training in-house, larger training like fire certification is handled at the Aurora facility.
