It was a sad day for more than just local band students when the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association cancelled the State Marching Festival and competition, and the cancellation of many more band competitions followed suit.
Instead of choosing to let these events be added to the growing list of COVID-19 disruptions, this put Aurora High School principal Doug Kittle and Aurora band director Dan Sodomka, into action, all leading to the creation of the first-ever (and hopefully only-ever) Aurora Marching Exhibition.
This field show exhibition, featuring bands from Adams Central, Columbus, Seward, Kearney High, Hastings High, Grand Island Northwest and Aurora and is set to run with the first performance starting at 9 a.m. and the last starting at 12:30 p.m.
