Hampton Opera House Demolition Time Lapse - Oct. 30, 2025
Hampton’s historic IOOF Opera House took months to build in 1892 and ‘93 and it took 10 months after being condemned as unsafe for demolition to begin, but once the crew from Broken Arrow Excavating started to tear it down on Thursday, the building was gone in less than nine hours.
Having torn off the wooden addition containing the stairs to the second story on the back of the building on Wednesday, the crew from Pleasant Dale started using two large excavators to tear away at the back (west) end of the structure shortly after 8 a.m. Hampton Village Utilities Supt. Chris Friesen said the demolition was complete by 4 or 4:30 p.m.
This video was captured using a GoPro using the time lapse setting. The video condenses about seven hours of work using two excavators into less than six minutes.
