Jehu (Derry) Derrickson

Jehu (Derry) (JD) F. Derrickson, 91, of Hot Springs, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Monday August 23, 2021. Derry was born January 12, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA.  He married Nancy J. Acton in 1951 and together they had two daughters.  Derry served in the U.S.

Bob Jorgensen, age 87, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at CHI-St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 28 at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Ricardo Riqueza will officiate.

Jim Cyr, age 88, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 27th at the Aurora Methodist Church, 1104 A Street, Aurora. Rev. Michelle Reed will officiate.

Matthew McGuire

Matthew James McGuire, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln. Matt was born June 4, 1968 in Hayward, California to Brian and Shirley McGuire. The McGuires grew their family in Pleasanton, California where Matt graduated from high school.

Irene Strong

Irene Strong, a lifelong resident of Hamilton County, passed away on December 28, 2020 at the age of 100.  A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, August 25 at 3 p.m., at the First Christian Church, at 11th and L Streets in Aurora.

Amos 'Lee' Scherff

Lee was born May 18, 1939 in the family home in rural Caulfield, Missouri to Clifford and Geneva (Williams) Scherff. Lee weighed in at 4 pounds and for weeks a shoebox was his bed.  He was the oldest of three brothers. The family moved to rural Aurora in 1946 where they farmed.

Merlyn Lampshire

Merlyn Lampshire, age 82, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Journey House at the Tabitha Nursing in Lincoln. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21 at the First Christian Church in Aurora.  Rev. Thomas Murray will officiate.

William "Bill" VanDeWalle

Randall Lee Creech, 70, of Giltner, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Emerald Assisted Living. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Giltner with Reverend Buck officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Giltner Cemetery.
