It wasn’t that long ago that Baylor Scheierman was back in A-Town, watching as inconspicuously as a hometown hero can as “We want Baylor” chants from the Aurora student section picked up late in the game of Aurora’s win over Crete. The former Husky couldn’t help but smile.

The area collected two medalists during the NSAA girls state wrestling championships from the CHI Health Center in Omaha by the end of the day Wednesday.
Jacobi Thomas was one of three district champions for Aurora at Saturday’s B-4 district meet in Blair. Thomas won the 150-pound bracket and will compete in his first state tournament this week.

Aurora and Crete played another instant classic to close out the regular season.In its final game at home of the season, Aurora was unable to avenge its earlier loss to the Cardinals as Crete outlasted the Lady Huskies 58-50 in double overtime Thursday night.
Aurora will return to Class B football for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, one of 23 schools in the classification.

The Nebraska Schools Activities Association released the 2026-2027 high school football schedules Wednesday.Aurora makes a return to Class B football for the next two-year cycle and sees a return of several familiar opponents and rivalries from past memory.
Caly Settles earned a district championship for the Huskies Saturday at the B-2 district meet and became one of three state qualifiers for Aurora. Settles will make her second appearance in Omaha, having finished fourth a year ago.

An Aurora wrestling veteran gets to take two of her teammates to Omaha for the first time next week.The Lady Huskies qualified three for next week’s NSAA state wrestling championships in Omaha following the B-2 district meet in Columbus Lakeview over the weekend.

For one last time, the Gress sisters get to compete alongside one another.Both Dakota and Bailey Gress qualified for next week’s NSAA state wrestling championships in Omaha after pushing their way through a tough B-2 district in Columbus Lakeview over the weekend.
