Figures can be flexible in hands of statistician

Statistics have always been a big part of contention when it comes to using them for the reinforcing of points of view on local and national issues, politics, or simply just a difference of opinions between two individuals.

Nebraska will bounce back, as always

Above all, Nebraska is a community. After 2019’s historic flooding, we didn’t simply cut our losses and move on. Instead, the best among us inspired the nation by looking out for those who were hit hardest and helping them get back on their feet.

A successful session for lawmakers

The Nebraska Legislature’s “short session” went much longer than usual this year due to coronavirus. While the session didn’t wrap up until August, it was worth the wait for Nebraskans.

Substance over style

It takes a whole lot more planning and causes way more stress to do less in today’s coronavirus world. That is a shared conclusion of board members and volunteers involved with last month’s Hamilton County Fair as well as the 2020 Nebraska State Fair, which is going on now in Grand Island.

100 years worth of women’s suffrage

On August 18, 1920, Tennessee ratified the Nineteenth Amendment to our Constitution. As the 36th state to do so, their decision to give women the vote pushed the amendment past the three-fourths threshold required by the Constitution.

A big deal for Nebraska
