Hazardous Waste Day set for Saturday at fairgrounds

The Aurora Rotary Club is coordinating a community-based household hazardous waste collection day Saturday, Oct. 7, with volunteers from several entities working together to help protect the area’s environment.

Women in Philanthropy awards first round of grants

Hamilton County’s newly formed Women in Philanthropy program saw its mission start to become real last week, presenting the first grant checks to local nonprofit organizations.Three checks were presented in all, totaling $7,000 in funding that will directly benefit citizens of Hamilton County.

Sisters create art on a grand scale

The previously blank wall on the north side of Hamilton Telecommunications building in Aurora has been a spectacle to passersby downtown recently as it has become the canvas for a huge mural being painted by a pair of sisters from Kansas.
