Hampton village leaders reviewed infrastructure and development plans as well as funding options for a proposed new subdivision Monday, agreeing to work with a Kearney-based engineering firm on the project.

The Hampton Village Board approved the contract for a preliminary engineering report Jan. 9, the first step in a process intended to find a solution to the community’s water source dilemma.

Kelsey Mersch’s family helped her construct the final form of her 4-H playground project at Pioneer Trails outside of Aurora. Mersch is excited that the equipment will provide entertainment for children now and in the future.

Hampton Village Board members approved “a status quo” budget and tax levy for the next fiscal year during a two-hour meeting Sept. 12, also reviewing plans for a drinking water study to address the town’s reliance on a single water well.

When the topic of street signs came up about an hour into the Phillips Village Board meeting last week, the 28 citizens gathered in the town hall started voicing concerns about people running stop signs and speeding through 6th Street and other residential areas, culminating in some criticism of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
