It was a tough second weekend for area football teams with the calendar officially flipped to September.Aurora's home opener was crushed by a McCook fourth quarter comeback as the Bison rallied to a 27-20 win over the Huskies.

A battle of top 10 Class C1 teams lived up to its billing Friday as Aurora went toe to toe with a physical Pierce squad, dropping a 27-21 heart-breaker on the road after a fourth-quarter surge came up short.

Aurora’s season-opening slate was no joke.The Husky volleyball team began the 2025 season on the road Thursday night in Wahoo, challenging the Warriors and Norris.That’s two matchups featuring the defending Class B champions in the Titans while Wahoo was last year’s runner-up team in Class C1.

Opening weekend for the Aurora softball team was an up and down adventure. The Huskies split its first four games at home, defeating Lexington Thursday night in the opener, 14-0.
