The High Plains volleyball team found itself in a slugfest Saturday morning only to come out the other side winners.
The Storm went 2-2 at Saturday’s Cross County tournament, defeating East Butler and Nebraska Lutheran while dropping games to Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and the host Cougars.
The first match of the day, bright and early at 9 a.m., had all the drama. The Storm rallied back for a three-set win over East Butler, 25-20, 29-31 and 26-24.
HPC led the opening set 6-1 with an offensive boost from its two senior leaders, Hailey Lindburg and Kenzie Wruble.
The Storm lead slowly dwindled to a 10-all tie before a couple Rylee Ackerson swings and a block from Dakota Gress put HPC up 13-11.
