Storm battles the big dogs at Platteview Invite

The High Plains wrestling team continued to outwork its depth ahead of the holiday break, this time against even larger schools. 
The Storm competed at Friday’s Platteview Invite against multiple schools from Classes A and B with multiple medalists. 
Freshman Levi Russell continued to carry that flag, making the finals at 106 before falling to Elkhorn North’s James Ferguson by a narrow 10-9 decision. For Russell, it was his first loss of the season. 
Hudson Urkoski added a third place effort for the Storm at 113, with his only loss of the day coming to Aurora’s Karsten Hohm in the semifinals. Urkoski rallied to beat West Point-Beemer’s Tanner Renner in the third place match with a second period pinfall.
