Pinnacle Bank Seniors end regular season with split DH
It was a split for the Aurora Post 42 Pinnacle Bank Seniors team in a double-header last week.
After losing both games of a double-header to Gibbon/Shelton back on June 16, Aurora was victorious in one of two games played July 5 from Mitchell Field.
The Pinnacle Bank Seniors won a 4-3 game before dropping the second of those, 6-3 later in the night.
Aurora took the lead in the bottom of the first after Jayson Havens slapped a RBI single to left, scoring Cayden Phillips.
The visitors would take the lead in the top of the second with a pair of runs off Phillips on the mound with a fielder’s choice.
The Pinnacle Bank Seniors quickly regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning as Max Wiarda had a RBI single at the bottom of the order just before Phillips drove in a second run to go up 3-2 on a fielder’s choice.
Gibbon/Shelton tied the game in the top of the third before the runs cooled off for several innings.
Max Wiarda pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth while he and Jayden Quandt did the same in the sixth with the game still tied.
