Mack Owens promised a return to the state finals a year ago after finishing as runner-up. 
The Aurora senior made good on that promise, although the end result didn’t change. 
For the second year in a row, Owens was a runner-up finisher for the Huskies at the NSAA state wrestling championships in Omaha, ending his career with a pair of silver medals. 
Not only that, but Owens lost to the same wrestler -- Bennington’s Luke MacDonald -- who won his second state championship by defeating Owens on the big stage. 
Aurora was 0-3 in championship matches this weekend, dampening what could have been an electrifying finish to the tournament. 
However, Aurora coach Derek Keasling explained that Owens left everything he had on the mat and there’s nothing wrong with that.
