Lady Huskies finish 2nd at home invite
The Aurora girls wrestling team battled to a silver medal at its home invite Thursday, including two golds and nine medalists overall.
In its second tournament of the season, Aurora was impressive throughout the day up and down its lineup. York's depth helped the Dukes take the team title with 216 points ahead of the Huskies' 162.5. Lincoln North Star, Lincoln Southeast and Central City rounded out the top five.
Aurora's gold medal champions of the day included Caly Settles at 110 and Sherly Gonzalez at 120. Settles remains undefeated on the season, going four-for-four on pinfall victories Thursday.
As for Gonzalez, her day included a tech fall, pinfall and 8-3 decision in the final.
Emily Bohlman and Violet Carstensen each finished second for Aurora while Annie Linehan and Lexi SaBell each brought home bronze. Makinely Eggleston, Olivia Perez and Di Maria Leininger each finished fourth on the day.
Aurora also recognized its two seniors on their home mat, Caly Settles and Emily Bohlman. The Huskies have a quick turnaround, competing at Saturday's Wood River Invite.
